Crazy Weekend

Hey guys, just a quick message to let you all know I wont be in my office at all over the weekend. I will try to get new photos of Eva and Laura’s litters posted early next week. Monday or Tuesday! I have some projects I need to get done around here and I have a wedding to shoot on Sunday.  I will also be posting a few more video clips to Instagram and then hopefully a more in depth video for the website next week!

Thank you all for being patient! We have never had this many puppies at one time and there is definitely a lot of care and cleaning going on.  As the puppies get bigger it will get even more intense.  My children are already giving the puppies plenty of socialization and attention. Hopefully by 5 weeks we will be ready to share some helpful information on their personalities!

Please forgive me if I forget something. I have a lot of emails coming in and am doing my best to keep everyone’s files up to date! It gets a little confusing when I have people on multiple lists. As of right now if you are on Macie’s list.. I have your file in her folder since Macie’s selection day is going to be first!    If at any time you want to drop off of a list before then, please let me know as soon as possible.  Otherwise we will be in touch a day or two before selections!  Also, if you are in the number 1 spot and you already know which one you want.. please also let me know ASAP. I have some very inpatient and excited customers.. (to be expected 🙂   I try really hard to be 100% fair!   I  do not show any favoritism or give any special benefits if you have already bought a previous puppy from me! Everyone gets on a list in the order of their communication!  I try to answer emails and phone calls in the order that they come in!!  All deposits are non-refundable as stated in my contract but remember if you don’t get the puppy of your choice at this time… it is very much worth the wait to transfer to another littler or a future litter from the same parents!!!  I waited a LONG time to get my Topaz and I am so glad that I was patient and waited for the perfect puppy.  We could not be happier with our stock and we hope that you all enjoy your babies as much as we do. These are truly special dogs and we will do our best to match the right puppy with the right home 🙂

babies… and more babies….

Whew. this last week has been quite eventful. While Macie’s puppies were only 5 days old our Lady decided to go into labor 4 days early.  Thank goodness I noticed her change in mood early that morning and things moved along quickly. All 6 babies were born early in the day with no complications. Gorgeous litter. We couldn’t be happier. I will be holding off on advertising this purebred litter.

But here is Macie and her Aussiedoodle puppies at 5 days old. We moved them to a bigger pen. Everyone is doing GREAT. They all had their dew claws removed and I am posting their new photoshoot tonight! Go check under “Available Puppies”

After Lady was done delivering her litter.. why Laura decided to go into labor. I had my eye on her all morning too.. as even the night before her temp had dropped and she was a little restless but I wasn’t quite sure.. I guess that would have been early labor.  BUT all the day while Lady was laboring Laura was very quiet and slept a lot. It wasn’t until right when Lady was done that Laura really started to get nervous.  We could then see her tummy contracting and proceeded to prepare her birthing area.  It was about an hour later she finally started the process. Everything went well. Here pups were a little bigger than I expected so I did assist a little.  When a bitch has less babies, the babies seem to be bigger. When a litter is larger, the average size may be a bit smaller.  I couldn’t believe I was having two litters in the same day. Even though my sister (who also breeds) says, that always happens to her when she has litters close to the same dates. One goes, and then another shortly after. Crazy.

So, with three litters on the ground. It’s an understatement to say that I was busy. Even after both litters were all safe and sound and comfy in their beds… my nightly duty had just begun. I moved my recliner to the dining room and decided the only way I would get rest would be if I was close enough to puppies that if I heard one in distress I would wake up and be right there.  So far all the moms seem to be doing there jobs taking care of them but it’s very common that moms lay on their babies. So, I keep an eye on that and also making sure everyone is nursing and warm.

The next morning–July 31st, Eva still had 4 days to go but she decided to go into labor as well! I was really hoping for a break between litters, to get caught up around here but no such luck. lol  Puppies come when they come whether you’re caught up on sleep or not! Eva started laboring and by the time I checked her temp, she was already at 99.4.  I think it was only a couple hours later that she finally popped out her first one.. and when I say popped she really just popped it out and she didn’t make a peep! I was expecting some noise as all the other mothers made little squeals when the first one came.  She was so quiet the whole time.  There was a little more time between puppies with her (on average.. 30 to 40 minutes instead of only 10 or 15… occasionally I’ll have an hour or more between puppies but that’s not the norm for every puppy or every birth.  But I mentioned that to say… it was like she knew it was taking too long. At one point she rolled over on her back to change positions, she bared down and popped one out with her feet straight up! It was the funniest sight! But it works! How awesome is that! She knew she had to try something different.  Anyway.. to our surprise she had 8 gorgeous puppies. Definitely more than we expected!  My Daughter Carley was right there with me.. even catching some of the puppies as they came out.  I have to say we make a great team! And as hard as it can be.. we love every minute of it!

Please keep checking our “Available puppies” tab… I will be posting individual photos of each puppy on their own litter page at one week old.  There will be a drop down menu with the names of the parents.  i.e. Macie & Waylon will be posted first.

We can’t wait until they open their eyes and we can start to see their personalities.

Let us know if you have any questions about up coming litters. With this many puppies on the ground my days will be much busier, so please take the time to navigate our website and learn as much about us and our puppy program as you can. We look forward to meeting more of our future puppy families and  helping to pair our puppies up with the right families.  The puppies will be changing so much in the next few weeks so I suggest you don’t get too attached to any ONE… as the new photos in the coming weeks will really start to show their individuality. Keep watching my instagram feed for video snippets and more random updates 🙂

Stay tuned and goodnight!

Macie and Waylon

Yesterday Macie seemed a little more alert and on edge. I knew right away something was going on. I questioned my instincts all day…but she was un-easy and I just kept a real close eye on her.  I got things ready, took her temprature and of course gave her tons of love and carried on my day. I was checking her temp every couple of houres. Eventually she showed every sign in the book and her temp started to drop.  I stayed up until midnight and decided tonight was the night. As the first pup was gettjng closer Macie started to nest more vigorously and looked to me for comfort.  I sat next to her bed and she came right to my lap for comfort as the first one would quickly make its way into our world at 3:00 am.  The first born was the blue merle female. I stayed up warming blankets and making sure each one took its first breath in a timely manner. With each new life I was in aww at how each one looked different from the last. After some long waiting between and thinking she was done at 5…. surprisingly she pushed out 3 more! By 7:00 I was certain she was done.  All babies nursed right away.  We are so thankful for a beautiful, healthy litter.

Update on current litter

Good evening!  I haven’t been blogging lately.. but I really want to start posting updates here.

As you all probably figured out, I am a part time professional photographer. I shoot weddings on weekends and homeschool my children during the week. This weekend went from being super busy and stressful to totally laid back and relaxing for me, since a couple things got cancelled.  Besides the usual chores and cleaning the puppy bedding etc. I was able to sneak in a quick photo shoot of our ALREADY 6 week old puppies! I can’t get over how quickly they change. I love comparing the photos from 2 weeks earlier! Their coats have now started to come in more and their personalities are showing as well. My daughter Carley loves to give puppies their baths and make them smell all nice and fresh.  They look curliest right after a bath.  It will relax a little by tomorrow, but they are definitely looking more fluffy and curly lately.

Aren’t they so adorable? We sure are going to miss this sweet bunch of fur balls <3

You can see more of these guys and get more information in this litter by going to our menu.  These are Mini Aussiedoodles so go to the Mini Aussiedoodle tab and then click “Available Puppies”

Jack is the only one available as of February 18th.

Creative Imaging

As some of you may have noticed, besides raising dogs and being a ranch girl I have also turned my love of Photography into a business. To keep it interesting I like to have fun with Photoshop now and then and create something a little more… well, creative. This has been done before obviously, but I had never tried it myself. I knew how it was done, but just hadn’t taken the time to take the shots and put them together.

Last night while I was outside I just thought, I’ll see if I can get Macie to look right inside my camera lens.  She of course loves to fetch,  so all I had to do was hold a stick over my lens to get her attention and get only her nose in focus . Next I had to place Stetson on something where he could really be in a good sitting position. Instead of a chair, (which I thought would be hard to edit out) I decided to set him on the foundation of our house so that he would be easier to cut out of the background.  It didn’t end up mattering too much because I didn’t cut him out anyway.   I decided to just use an inverted layer in photoshop and zoom way in for my paint brush used a  brush size of 6 px. 🙂 My PS Friends will get that part. But it worked out great and I think it looks like their eyes are looking at the exact same point of focus!  Next time I hope to get a little more creative with my lighting.

Just for fun, here are my before and after images.

Puppy Care

Hey everyone! Today I just want to share where we keep the puppies when they are napping or if we have to leave the house.. A lot of people are curious as to how we raise puppies and want to make sure that we are not a puppy mill. We care deeply for our babies and even though they live in the house with us (in my kitchen to be exact) We have to have a clean, safe and sanitary place for them that is confined.  So, we found out from other breeders about this amazing puppy playpen. I got the big one, made for Standard sized dogs so that they have plenty of room.   We clean and sanitize this pen once to twice daily. Depending how dirty the trays get. Since we take the puppies out so many times during the day and they are a little older now, we can get by with once a day. They rarely use the bathroom in here anymore.  Their blankets and towels get changed and washed daily as well and of course they have lots of toys in there and also all over my kitchen. When they aren’t in their playpen, they are either playing outside with my children or running around my kitchen chasing each other or playing with the family. Yes, my kitchen is blocked off so they are always on the tile, which makes for easy clean up when accidents happen. We hope that by taking them out so many times during the day and night that house breaking will be easier for you when you bring your babies home.

Here is the link to the MIDWEST PUPPY PLAYPEN  I purchased. If you are interested in a small one, they come in many sizes. The tray underneath to catch all their waste is very handy and easy to clean up when lined with puppy pads or newspaper.

The pile of puppies behind Stetson and Matthew is because they are all trying to hog the air vent on the cool tile 🙂 Topaz is the biggest hog!

My blog is the place to leave comments, if you have any 🙂

Remember we still have two very beautiful Black Phantoms looking for their forever homes. I know most people really love the Merles but these Phantoms are adorable and sweet as ever!   Hoping to get more photos tonight.

Have a great evening- Sheila

Meet “Topaz”

After much waiting and anticipation for just the right male, we finally welcomed this handsome fella into our family.  We fell in love the minute we laid eyes on him! He is such a sweet yet independent little guy. We don’t want him to grow up, yet we can’t wait to see what he looks like as he matures.  We plan to show him next year and will be using him for our purebred crosses. Stay tuned for more adorable photos of him and the girls. So far he and Lady have already become great playmates.
